In the summer of 2020, Colorado Time Systems developed a computer component that simplifies serial-to-serial data connections. The “USB2USB” device allows for a computer-to-computer serial connection using only the device and two 5-meter or less USB A to B cables just like you use for your printer. Whereas the typical serial-to-serial data connection used to connect one computer to another requires several components.

The USB2USB device proves to be supportive for any serial-to-serial data connection, here are some examples of how this solution can clean up your existing connections between your Colorado Time equipment and your meet management computer.

Meet management to DisplayLink computer:
Rather than using a null modem and gender changer to connect your meet management computer to your DisplayLink computer, simply plug a USB A to B cable into any available USB port on your DisplayLink computer plug the other end of the cable into either side of the USB2USB device. Plug another USB A to B cable into any available USB port on your DisplayLink computer and plug the free end into the USB2USB device. The two computers can now transfer serial data.

Meet management to Gen7 control computer:
You can also use the USB2USB device to connect your meet management computer directly to your Gen7 control computer for both swimming and diving. Connect USB cables to any available USB port on both the meet management computer and the Gen7 control computer then connect the free ends of both USB cables to the USB2USB device.

Consult your meet management software user manual for specific connection requirements.
