Carmel High School Sets the Standard with State-of-the-Art Natatorium and Colorado Time Systems Technology

Carmel High School, already a powerhouse in competitive swimming, has taken its commitment to aquatic excellence to the next level with the opening of its brand-new natatorium complex. Purpose-built for elite competition and community engagement, this impressive facility integrates the latest swim timing technology and LED video scoreboards and record boards from Colorado Time Systems—making it one of the most advanced high school aquatic centers in the country.

Engineered for Performance

At the heart of the new complex is a 50-meter pool designed for speed. Featuring a fully recessed gutter system and a uniform depth of eight feet, the pool surpasses World Aquatics and USA Swimming standards for safety and performance. A dedicated diving well with a one-meter platform allows for simultaneous swimming and diving events—maximizing training opportunities and competitive flexibility.

The facility was brought to life through the expertise of pool designer Bill Robertson, in conjunction with general contractor J.C. Ripberger Construction and Buddenbaum & Moore Construction. Their collaboration delivered a seamless new swimming pool build that balances high-performance specifications with modern architectural design.

Swimming Technology that Elevates Every Event

To complement the facility’s architectural excellence, Carmel High School selected Colorado Time Systems to provide top-tier aquatic timing and display technology:

  • Gen7 Swim Timing System for accurate, reliable race timing and streamlined event management

  • Titanium deckplates, built for durability and long-lasting performance

  • A giant 8mm LED video scoreboard , measuring 11.8 ft tall by 47.9 ft wide, for race results, athlete intros, sponsor content, and more

  • Two 4mm pitch video record board displays (each just over 10 ft tall by 6.8 ft wide) that serve as digital record boards, powered by CTS’ Advanced Record Board Image Generator software

These visual and timing enhancements not only boost the experience for swimmers and coaches but also deliver a professional, immersive environment for spectators and visiting teams.

A Hub for Excellence and Community

Carmel High School’s new aquatic center is more than just a competition venue. It’s a vibrant community hub designed to serve student-athletes, local swim clubs, and the broader public. With a thoughtful layout, cutting-edge tech, and support from dedicated partners, the natatorium stands as a shining example of what’s possible when innovation meets passion.

We are proud to have been part of this extraordinary project and thank our partners—Bill Robertson, J.C. Ripberger Construction, and Buddenbaum & Moore Construction—for helping bring this vision to life.

On the World Stage

Congratulations to this amazing facility and the being named a host site for the Swimming World Cup in 2025!
