Gen7 Swim Timing being used at swim meet

Colorado Time Systems offers 2 different types of GEN7 Swim Timers. So, which is right for you?

The key distinction between the Gen7 Serial and Gen7 Legacy Swim Timing Systems lies in their communication methods.

The Gen7 Legacy Swim Timer is specifically engineered to seamlessly integrate with your current CTS swim timing components and display boards, providing a solution that perfectly aligns with your present requirements and uses the capabilities of the Gen7 user interface. Additionally, the Gen7 Legacy swim timing system offers compatibility for both in- and on-deck systems for up to 12 lanes.

Features of the Gen7 Legacy Swim Timer:

Intuitive software interface
  • The Gen7 swim timer features a modern Windows user interface and is touchscreen-friendly.

Flexible user interface options
  • A Windows laptop or tablet is the primary interface with connectivity to the swim timer via Ethernet. The Gen7 timer can be placed at the timing table for a meet, or left in a secure office space where it is connected to the swim timing system via an office wallplate.

Race finish safeguard
  • All timing data is logged and saved on the Gen7 swim timer. Any issues with the user interface (laptop or tablet) are recoverable. The swim timing system will continue running and will finish a race without the user interface.

Enhanced diagnostics
  • Integrated pre-meet diagnostic screen to check swim timing system setup and health, eliminating the need to set up a meet in the timer to run test races.

  • Be proactive with equipment maintenance: discover possible corroding connections throughout the swim timing system and mitigate the effects of corrosion until the component can be repaired or replaced.

While the legacy swim timing system operates using a traditional setup, the serial system functions on a bus communication system. This bus system enables two-way communication between the nodes on the deck, such as deck plates and wall plates, and the swim timer, also known as the "brains" of the system. This two-way communication grants users the ability to monitor the health of all connected components, detecting and addressing potential issues before they escalate into failures.

The patented Gen7 Serial Swim Timing platform offers state-of-the-art technology that provides long-lasting performance. This powerful combination of software and technology allows you to customize and tailor your swim meets according to your preferences, giving you the ultimate flexibility in organizing and managing your events.

Key features of the Gen7 Serial Swim Timer:

Accurate, easy, and efficient pre-meet setup
  • Color-coded and keyed cable connections

  • Volunteer friendly

  • Course configurations are validated with in-deck connections

Simple, robust bulkhead connectivity
  • Gen7 swim timer sets a remarkable new standard for connecting your bulkhead to the swim timing system. The wet-pluggable floor plates for both the poolside and the bulkhead mean you no longer need to attempt the challenging chore of keeping bulkhead connections dry and corrosion-free.

Race finish safeguard
  • All timing data is logged and saved on the Gen7 swim timer. Any issues with the user interface (laptop or tablet) are recoverable. The swim timer will continue running and will finish a race without the user interface.

Advanced diagnostics
  • Integrated pre-meet diagnostic screen to check system setup and health, eliminating the need to set up a meet in the timer to run test races.

  • Be proactive with equipment maintenance: discover possible corroding connections throughout the swim timing system, and mitigate the effects of corrosion until the component can be repaired or replaced.

Connect hubs
  • Each type of connect hub is uniquely keyed and color-coded to ensure that each component is connected in the right place.

  • Perform checks twice a second to see if there is a connection at its location.

  • Corrosion-free titanium connections.

  • Minimal maintenance; simply remove any debris that gets in the connect hub. Each hub comes with a screw-on cap to keep debris out; no chemical cleaning. Floor plates are power washable.

  • Connectors are wet-pluggable, purging the water out of the connect hub while making a superior connection.

  • Timer, start system, scoreboard, and bulkhead connect hubs can be mounted in-deck or in wallplates.
