The grand opening of the James A. Leach Aquatic & Recreation Center on May 1, 2023, was a moment of immense excitement for the vibrant community of Hoke County. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to cater to a variety of health and fitness needs, offering a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities. 

The Aquatic Center boasts an 8-lane, 25-yard-long, competition swimming pool, accompanied by a separate recreation pool offering a zero-entry ramp, spray features, and two dedicated exercise swimming lanes.

“This is the first public swimming place Hoke County has ever had, our citizens had to go to different counties to swim,” said Hoke County Commissioner and the building's namesake James A. Leach. “We felt like if you live in Hoke County, go to school in Hoke County you ought to be able to stay home and have a place here where you can learn, practice, and have swimming meets.”

The installation of the 12mm LED Video Scoreboard complements the modern design of the aquatic center. With its sleek and clean design elements, the In-Deck Gen7 Swim Timing System seamlessly provides accurate timing to 1/1000 of a second.

Moreover, the strategically mounted Slim Pace Clocks are easily visible from the pool and leisure lap lanes, allowing for convenient self-timing. Additionally, the inclusion of Deck Clocks and the Wireless Table Top Scoreboard Controller enhances the aquatic center's capabilities, enabling it to host Water Polo matches.
